Ten Arguments in favour of Baygon

The first and main argument for Baygon
Prohibiting household insecticides - which some people demand - would lead to the risk of uncontrolled spread of pests and pathogens, and would undermine current hygiene standards...

An effective defensive strategy
Material, storage and hygiene pests represent an increasing danger for us and our environment. Effective defensive and control strategies are essential, if their uncontrolled spread is to be stopped. The early and moderate use of Baygon domestic insecticides protects humans and animals from harmful insects, prevents the transmission of diseases, and saves foods and fabrics from being spoiled and destroyed.

Baygon - safe control of pests
Baygon satisfies the requirements for a modern insecticide. It permits the selective control of insects at low rates and concentrations which harm neither humans nor their surroundings. The agents and agent combinations used in the Baygon product line are highly active substances, which have been exhaustively investigated and tested for effectiveness and safety.

Pyrethroids act selectively against insects
The pyrethroids used are exceptionally specific, and affect insects most. They act very quickly and intensively on insects' nervous systems, and induce strong reactions ranging from temporary paralysis up to death, depending on the rate and type of pyrethroids. Warm-blooded animals such as humans and other mammals react in a completely different way. They absorb pyrethroids at very low rates and degrade them within a short time. For this reason, the toxic action on warm-blooded creatures is 1,000 to 10,000 times lower than on insects.

Even in case of misuse any symptoms disappear quickly
Even after the wrong use of insecticides containing pyrethroids, as a rule any symptoms will have completely disappeared within the first 24 hours. The German Institute for Protection of Consumer Health and Veterinary Medicine (BgVV) has confirmed that to date no cases of chronic and irreversible harm have been caused by pyrethroids.

Pyrethroids do not accumulate in the body
Large-scale studies and animal experiments (on rats and mice) have proved that the pyrethroids used by Baygon do not accumulate, either in nervous and fatty tissue or in organs, and do not cause permanent harm.

Pyrethroids are registered worldwide
The pyrethroids used by Baygon have been approved or registered worldwide by national authorities and the ministries for agriculture, environment and health. In addition they have been assessed, both by the WHO (World Health Organisation) and the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) and are also recommended for malaria prophylaxis.

Baygon development does not stand still
The formulas of three Baygon products have been modified. The Flying Insect Spray, Crawling Insect Spray and Moth Paper contain Transfluthrin. This is the to date best-tested insecticidal agent. It is highly selective against harmful insects, and under proper conditions of use does not become toxic to warm-blooded animals. Besides this the Baygon line has been extended by two products. The Moth Bag contains Transfluthrin. It is hung in wardrobes with its user-friendly hanger, or laid between clothing.
